Uh oh… You got stuck on the highway during a hail storm and now have a few dents on your car to show for it.
You’d love to get those dents fixed soon, but that will cost you a pretty penny to do, right? Not at all, thanks to the paintless dent repair technique!
If you’re not familiar, PDR can offer you a cost-efficient method of having those pesky dents repaired by trained experts.
Below is a description of what paintless dent repair is and the process of removing the dents!
What Is a Paintless Dent Repair?
Paintless dent repair, or PDR for short, is the process of removing dents or creases on the body of your car without tampering the paint job in the process.
Many people prefer this method over a body shop due to the cost-effectiveness without sacrificing the knowledge and experience of those fixing the dents.
If you’ve noticed a few minor dings in your car and are interested in getting them fixed, paintless dent repair is probably the way you should go!
How Does the PDR Process Work?
While some experts may have their separate ways of going about the repair, the PDR process can generally be broken down into less than five steps.
Starting off, the worker will take an overall inspection of the damage done to your car: where are the dents? how many are there? what’s the most efficient way of reaching the back side of the dent? (more on that in a moment).
This assessment will give the expert a better idea of how long the process will take and, more importantly, how much it will cost to fix.
After they’ve determined the most efficient way of reaching the back side of the dent, they’ll temporarily remove any car parts needed to reach that back side (such as car lights, panels, etc.).
Once they’ve reached the back side, the expert will take a thorough examination of the damage that’s been done and what’s the best way to work around it.
They will then take the observations they’ve made and use the necessary tools, time, and gentle force to slowly pop it into its original alignment.
Why Choose PDR over a General Dent Repair?
The main reason, and probably the only one you need, for choosing PDR: it’s less expensive than a traditional repair.
A word of advice: it’s better to go to a paintless dent repair specialist first and have them tell you the dent will require a traditional repair, then going to a body shop first.
If you go to a body shop first, they may suggest a traditional repair even if the dent could be fixed by a less expensive PDR.
